How We Select Products to Review
We review products that meet three criteria: the formula contains ingredients with a peer-reviewed evidence base, the product is available to US consumers, and there is genuine search demand from women researching anti-aging skincare. We do not review products on a pay-to-feature basis. Brands cannot pay for inclusion or positive coverage.
How We Analyse Ingredients
Every ingredient analysis begins with the published scientific literature. We consult PubMed, the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, the International Journal of Cosmetic Science, and the American Academy of Dermatology's published guidelines. We assess each ingredient on three criteria: quality of the evidence base, the concentration likely present in the formula (inferred from label position), and mechanism relevance to the specific skin concerns of women over 45.
How We Test Products
Where possible, reviewers use products for a minimum of 60 days before publishing a review — the minimum period required for peptide-based skincare to demonstrate measurable structural change. We document the testing protocol: frequency of use, companion products used, skin type of the tester, and the specific concerns being monitored. We do not rely solely on brand-supplied before/after photography.
How We Handle Affiliate Relationships

This is disclosed prominently on every page that contains affiliate links, in compliance with FTC guidelines. Affiliate relationships do not determine which products we review, how we rate them, or what conclusions we reach. We publish honest pros and cons on every review, including weaknesses of products we recommend. A product we earn commission on will receive a negative conclusion if the evidence does not support it.
How We Keep Content Current
Skincare formulations change. Research evolves. Every review and ingredient analysis on this site carries a Last Reviewed date, visible on the page. We audit content on a rolling basis and update it when formulations, pricing, or the scientific evidence changes. The /last-reviewed page lists our most recently updated content.
